In this section I will attempt to show the Mendip Model Motor Racing Club from it's roots back in the mid 70's. I think that it would be fitting to dedicate this section to the memory of Mr John Keay without whom, and with his family and all his helpers, there almost certainly would not be the wonderful circuit that we all race on today.
My special thanks to long term club member (and loyal servant) Tony Coles for letting me use all the pics that you will see over the next few pages.
Please bear with me as I do have day job and this will take some time to complete fully.

If you have any old photos, newspaper articles etc, etc relating to the Mendip Club's history that you would like included in this section then please feel free to contact me.

On November 20th 1977, The Mendip Model Motor Racing Circuit opened it's gates to radio control car enthusiasts from all over the UK.
The openening ceremony was performed by none other than Team Castrol Rally Cross driver John Button (Jenson's dad), and racing got under way at 11am.
Richard Beckett was the first club secretary and was responsible for all the press releases relating to the track's grand opening meeting. He did the club proud and local paers including the Western Daily Press reported that World Championship Motor Racing had come to Weston Super Mare.
