HERY SUYANTO

Hery Suyanto (hery@unud.ac.id) was born on April 21st, 1963 in Magetan, East Jawa, Indonesia. He received his bachelor degree at Physics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institute Technology Sepuluh November Surabaya (ITS), Indonesia in 1988. After that, he became a lecturer in Udayana University, Bali, Indonesia until now. He continued his study for Magister and Doctoral degrees on Faculty of Optoelectronics and Laser Application, the University of Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia. He received his doctoral degree in 2003 after conducting research focusing on Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) under supervision of Prof. Tjia May On, Prof. Dr. Kiichiro Kagawa and Dr. Koo Hendrik Kurniawan.

After completing his doctoral course, he returned to Udayana University as lecturer and researcher. He served as Head of Optics Laboratory there from 2005 to 2011, and later serves as head of Integrated Basic Sciences Laboratory since 2012 until now. He is the President of the Indonesian Physical Society (IPS), Bali’s Chapter for 2 periods successively with the first one between 2014-2017 and the second one since 2018 until now. In 2019, he is appointed Professor on Optoelectronics and Laser Application in Udayana University.

He has carried out many collaborative research works of which are mostly carried out at Maju Makmur Mandiri Research Centre (MMM) in Jakarta related to numerous applications of LIBS. In the last three years, his researches have been focusing on LIBS application on biomaterial samples such as nail, hair, teeth for biomarkers and pedigree analysis in his laboratory. These works have been published in more than 40 articles in international journals, and some of them are also being proposed as patents.
