IVAN TANRA

Ivan Tanra (tanraivan@gmail.com) was born on July 16th, 1985 at Ujung Pandang, a city located in the middle part of Indonesia. After high school, he went to Nanyang Technological University, Singapore to obtain his bachelor degree at School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. In 2007, he graduated with second Upper class Honour and minor in Business. After that, he continued his research study at the same school and University and obtained his Ph.D. in 2013. His thesis title was “Tightness measurement of bolted joint” under guidance of Prof. Ling shih-fu.

After finishing his doctoral study, he looked for industrial experience, so he started working in a Japanese company that manufacture electric motor, Nidec, as a researcher. There, he did researches in the field of robotics, especially miniature robot. After working 2 years there, he joined a startup company that produce commercial 3d printer, Pirate3d. At Pirate3d, he was in charge of product development. He redesigned the product from its prototype stage into a ready-to-manufacture product. He also helped in developing the production line and the testing for quality control of the product.

In 2018, he decided to return to academic research field by joining one of the universities in Indonesia, Ukrida, as a lecturer and Maju Makmur Mandiri Research Centre as a voluntary researcher there. His research interest is in the field of signal measurement. His current research topics are Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) for material’s characterization and bio signal measurement to indicate human’s health condition. He is also interested in development of robotics and smart device.
